Epic First Post… Getting Started – What this is all about
Inspiration for You… To Keep reading this blog and live life.
“Keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you’re up to.” – author unknown
“Procrastinate now, don’t put it off” – author unknown
I am not writing this as my own rants. The simple fact of the matter is I would not take that much time for myself as I can just go and do everything I am going to write about without blogging about it. This would save time for me and make it easier for both of us. I am actually writing this for you. I am wanting to inspire and push you by showing you what you are capable of.
I hope and pray that as you read the process I use to get results in each of these crazy and fun scenarios that you will also go find some of those scenarios in your life. My plan is to reach an extraordinary level by taking the climb in my own life. I know that today just like you we have to start where we are and start reaching for the next level. The difference today for me is I am not thinking of the next level but showing forward progress.
Action consistently produces progress. – The Will Robins
My plan is to take a step towards progress everyday and share it with you. Then together we can see those results. We will share some memories, some fun, some adventure, and hopefully some success so that together we can enjoy a life worth living…
How to Write Your First Blog Post… Or… How To Procrastinate for Over One Year On What You Really Want.
I’m writing a book. I’ve got the page numbers done.
Funny how often we are excited with the idea of something and we get everything ready to start and never take the first action needed to see any results. Officially speaking. This blog post should have been posted, written, and otherwise completed over a year ago. I don’t even remember how long ago I bought this domain but as of today, another check mark on the bucket list. I say that tongue in cheek because this is supposed to be the epic first post. I rarely say anything Epic so that makes this really more difficult.
My intentions or thoughts are to write this as if I am talking to one of my many fans and readers. I don’t have any at the time of writing this so I am thinking in terms of future sense. You reading this means that my plan is working perfectly <insert evil chuckle> and very soon I will be a household name or at least have a few people that read more of what I write. Either way, score one for the good guys. My plan, at least today that is, is to actually break apart my life and offer it up as a writing or blog of sorts. I will face many challenges in doing this and so I know I need to summon upon a lot more creativity than normal in order to complete this daunting task.
If you would not be forgotten as soon as you are dead, either write something worth reading or do things worth writing.
My purpose of this entire blog is to deconstruct everything I am doing or thinking of doing and then having the blog show that thought process and post results to it. In other words: I have a lot of goals, cool stuff, and other things to share and I will posting them into categories.
the proper way to trim your toenails, I find this interesting because I was never taught correctly apparently and have been corrected by my wife
how to become an epic call of duty player, I love doing things that my son enjoys and so to make it interesting I am going to work on this one with him,
how to properly optimize a blog, beyond the obvious point that I will be doing this on this site but I also own an SEO firm and place to buy backlinks so I can offer more advice on this as well as deconstruct the process as I do it on this site,
of course health and fitness, at some point I have to dunk a basketball again because my manly ego says so and I need to show abs just so that I am a stud.
So each category will have different topics and you can follow those specific goals and see the results while reading the thought process and action steps I took to get there. It is like a living experiment. I got part of this idea from Tim Ferris (see info below), Matthew Woodward (see info below), and the other parts from divine inspiration.
I am very unique and that seems to be something people like reading about so I decided to fill that void for you, the reader. I like living in the future and calling you the reader because it makes it seem as if I have actually succeeded already. Sorry if this is weird to you today since you are actually reading this but bare with me…
Matthew Woodward – Creating a Blog and Growing it
I got a portion of this idea from a very successful blog that I have read everything on. Matthew Woodward is a workaholic. The same way that he really cares about the content he puts out and the same way he connects with his readers is the same vein that I want to thrive in. He puts out free content and improves your life. His particular blog is all about SEO and Website promotion and he has went over and above from the first post to his latest post. His writing style and time spent on his site come through in every word and picture.
http://www.matthewwoodward.co.uk/tutorials/how-i-built-a-top-100-blog-in-12-months/ is one of his post that I will be breaking down into bite size portions and performing on this blog as a test of sorts. That post along with Neil Patels and Tim Ferris’ method for testing everything will be the basis of this blog. I will also use BuzzBundle to drive traffic. I respect Matthew so much that you should buy tools from his site that he has reviewed even though I will be offering solutions using them to. I believe his hard work should be rewarded and he built that site from scratch and without it this site never starts.
Tim Ferris – The Human Experiment. Test Everything
Years after being a Tim Ferris fan I stumbled upon this interview with someone he mentions in The Four Hour Work Week. If you haven’t read this book, his writing style and information are brilliant and is a Game – Changer. You should buy it today… See the affiliate link below to Amazon.
The 4-Hour WorkweekMain article: The 4-Hour Workweek
Ferriss developed the ideas present in The 4-Hour Workweek while working 14-hour days at BrainQUICKEN. Ferriss’s frustration and then personal escape from a workaholic lifestyle was the genesis of the book.
The 4-Hour Workweek was rejected by 25 publishers. In 2007, Random House, the 26th publisher, released the book through its Crown imprint. Before release, Ferriss was an unknown. He marketed the book heavily through bloggers with whom he created personal relationships. He has since been praised for this technique. The 4-Hour Workweek would reach #1 on the New York Times bestseller list, #1 on the Wall Street Journal bestseller list, and #1 on the BusinessWeek bestseller list. It has currently sold over 1,350,000 copies and has spent nearly 4 years on the New York Times bestseller list.
The book received both positive and negative reviews. Leslie Garner of The Telegraph noted that, “With a punchy writing style and a higher literacy level than most flash-in-the-pan gurus, Ferriss has struck a chord with his critique of workers’s slavish devotion to corporations… Ferriss’s book skillfully compartmentalises, then pathologises, workers’s unhealthy relationships with office life.” Dylan Tweney of Wired wrote, “Nearly every idea taken to extreme. No sense of work being anything more than a paycheck.”
In 2009, The 4-Hour Workweek, Expanded and Updated was released by Random House and included multiple case studies authored by people who have utilized Ferriss’s methods.
Two months before the release The 4-Hour Workweek Ferriss launched a blog for the book, which he updates to this day. His blog has since become a publishing clearing house for many notable entrepreneurs, bestselling authors, and thinkers, including Chip Conley, Neil Strauss, Tucker Max, Ramit Sethi, Ryan Holiday, Noah Kagan of AppSumo, Chase Jarvis, Paulo Coelho, Reid Hoffman (chairman of LinkedIn), Peter Diamandis, Daymond John (founder of FUBU), and others. The resulting influence from such posts on book sales and other metrics has been dubbed the “Tim Ferriss effect.”
While reading the article about Tim and his responses, it made me think of all the different ways to gain business and help a business and how much I have learned over the last thirty one (31) and a half (1/2) years. How little I always knew and how much I always thought I knew when I started. Funny how that seems to be a thing…
This interview and thinking back to when I first read Tim’s book makes me think of a small statement that Paul Kern said to me just a few weeks ago, “Going Deeper,” and that was it… we both knew what we meant about the topic of biblical thinking and divine relationships with God and the same goes so many times with Game Changers.”Going Deeper” is such an epic quote that I had to mention it in “the Epic First Post.” I love those one liners that you can study forever and always have more meaning to them as you understand them more. I am not, by the way, trying to compare other things with God and never will I ever try to do that as God made everything so there is no comparison.
Here is what I mean in essence. When I started learning how to sell and really started trying to learn other skills then almost every few months I learned something that took me to a greater understanding and completely “changed or molded” (hence why its a GAME CHANGER) the way I was doing some of the routine things I had always been doing. Many times my understanding of “why” was all that changed. Why something causes something else to happen. Why the other person makes a decision. Why people do things a certain way. That “why” topic is what this blog is going to be all about. The story about the story… The story of “why” the story became a story…
This is The Will Robins… The Why.
That is the true title of the blog. This blog is built on results of ” Why. ” The easiest thing in the world to do and the hardest to stop and think about is very often describing:
- why I chose to do something
- why I wanted the results associated with it
- why I thought that action would produce those results
- what results I actually got
- why I got those results
- what I do next to correct course to get the original results I was after
- or the worse… why I have chosen to stick my head in the sand and not do anything… Don’t Be HERE
Yet I feel that is why I am unique as those questions are about the only thing I ever think of.
So sit back enjoy and subscribe… This should be an Epic Journey…
Turns out I posted the second post already… Check it out Here
